Hamish Bolland
Hamish summer clerked with us in 2004/2005 and returned as a law clerk in 2006. After just under three years in the Construction team, Hamish moved to Dubai to work with the Projects Team at Allen & Overy LLP. While Hamish still works on construction contracts, he predominantly acts for investors and project companies undertaking major projectsin the Gulf region. Hamish says his employment at Minter Ellison Rudd Watts helped his transition to Allen & Overy immensely, because as part of an internationally recognised legal group, his experience with us was immediately recognised overseas, as was the excellent experience he had gained in the Construction team from a junior level.

Frances Jackways
Frances summer clerked with Minters in 2006/2007 and rotated in both the Corporate and Real Estate teams. She then returned to the firm as a law clerk in the Real Estate team in 2008.
Working at Minters gave Frances the opportunity to gain some experience overseas whilst still working for Minters at the same time. “Minters has a number of law firms in Australia and being able to transfer to Melbourne for a 12 month secondment was a great opportunity” says Frances. “The partners at Minters in NZ made it easy for me to be able to enjoy my secondment in Melbourne.”

Ali Shariat
Ali worked as a Summer Clerk at Minters in 2007/2008. He returned to Minters as a Law Clerk in 2009 in the Dispute Resolution (DR) team where he was able to work on a variety of matters ranging from insolvency to personal privacy. What Ali also valued were the friendships he formed with the other solicitors and staff. Ali is now working for the United Nations Development Programme in Iran. His work involves monitoring projects and preparing reports on their activities. It is difficult work however, his time at Minters has been a major asset in his current role. It enabled him to develop his writing and critical thinking ability, which has been critical in his current functions. Minters also exposed him to best practice which hopefully will stay with him as his career progresses.
