Whether your interview for a summer clerkship with us is your first ‘real’ job interview or not, we encourage you to relax and take a deep breath.  The thing to remember is that we want to give you the opportunity to put your best foot forward.  And hopefully we can all enjoy ourselves too.

 

The interview process and the whole summer clerk experience is a fantastic opportunity to get a good look at a top law firm in New Zealand and work out if that is where you want to be.

We try to keep our interviews as relaxed as possible so that you don’t feel so nervous and we can get to know you better.  That said, you will still be expected to wear standard interview attire.

 

This is your opportunity to shine so put your best foot forward!  Don’t forget, this is also an opportunity for you to find out about us.  Have a think ahead of time if there’s anything you’d like to ask us and we’ll be happy to oblige.

 

You will be interviewed by two partners  Your interview will cover not just aspects of your cv; you will be tested on your knowledge of the law.  You’ll be asked to present to the interview panel on a subject of our choosing.  Don’t panic – it’s just an opportunity for us to test your advocacy skills.  No preparation for this part of the interview is required.

 

Expect your interview to take up to an hour.  Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get here – there’s nothing worse than arriving late and in a panic!
